Each material file has .3-16.0 um spectral DHR, 0-3.0um-integrated solar absorptivity and 3-16.0um long-wave emissivity, density, specific heat, thermal conductivity and Ulaby-Dobson polarized radar reflectivity parameters for radar. It also has fields for parameterized BRDF model measurements.
Data is compiled from our in-house spectral measurement laboratory and various public domain sources. Our Material Library is in a format directly consumable by our SigSim spectral signature prediction library. SigSim enables you to synthesize full at-aperture spectral signatures from these materials, providing rigorous physics-based modeling of the natural environment:
- Natural spectral irradiance sources, such as the sun, moon, stars, sky and earthshine (3D positional/directional from sea-level to top-of-atmosphere)
- Material-system Thermal modeling
- Full surface spectral, directional radiance (reflectance and emission using spectral BRDF from material library)
- Spectral Atmospheric propagation based on low-level Modtran4.0 algorithms (transmittance, path radiance and scattering) – useful for atmospheric correction.
SigSim with the JRM Material Library is useful for at-aperture signature matching for material prediction from remote-sensed data. In fact, SigSim and our material library are two key technologies in JRM’s Genesis Semi-automated Material Classification Tool which will be available 30 March 2006.
